Hi, At the moment my laptop has 8gb of memory and according to a scan and HP can go as high as 32gb however when I've put the ram (2x16gb) in my laptop makes a short series of beeps whilst the caps lock and number lock buttons flash, when I left 1x16gb in I got the same thing however when I put the 1x8gb back and the 1x16gb in (24g) it works.. Any ideas why this is.

Unfortunatelly, G3 series supports only CL15 and slower memory. So, that's why your laptop works in configuration 8GB + 16GB, because one of RAM has slower CAS Latency.

I have exactly the same issue and I've upgraded bios to the newest one, but problem still persist. Unfortunatelly, we can't do nothing with that. It would be nice to ask HP support to implement some BIOS configuration, which will try to increase latency on memory before start, but... I don't think, that they will do that...

Greaaat, they have so many different variations on their laptops and at times I don't even think their support team knows what the deal is.. I'll just leave my 8gb in for now.

Thanks for the info though.
