My HP EliteBook 840 G8 has a strange issue with the keyboard. Sometimes, the 2/Z/S/X and CAPS LOCK buttons stop working. However, if I press that area (highlighted in yellow in the attached image), the keyboard buttons start functioning again. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

I think that your keyboard wires are dispatched or touched to each other. My suggesion is to visit the repairing center, May be is their any other fault.
