"BIOS 1.48 Update Fails citing requirement for WMI Provider 6.5.13.1"
I started from BIOS 01.04.
My solution steps:
- Go to BIOS 01.48 page but scroll down and expand Previous version
- Download BIOS 01.33 (sp71828.exe) and install it. This one does not need WMI Provider 6.5.13.1 and the installation will be successful.
- Download latest BIOS 01.48 (sp99022.exe). Run it and at the error, closed it. This will not update the BIOS but it will create the folder SP88022 in C:\SWSetup
- Go to C:\SWSetup\SP71828 folder and copy HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe (ver. 1.0.27.1) file. Then go to C:\SWSetup\SP99022 folder and paste (replace/overwrite) the existing newer file (ver. 1.1.22.1).
- Run HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe from SP99022 folder. Now BIOS update to 1.48 will work 🤓
