HP Elitebook 820 G2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi

Keyboard backlight is not working in HP Elitebook 820 G2, even there is no short key available on keyboard Function (F5 or F11).

But we also used HP Elitebook 820 G1 previosly and keyboard backlight option was there with Function F11 key and was working perfectly.

Please tell me if i am missing anything to on keyboard backlight or HP does not offer back light option in G2 version. On HP website it is showing that this model has keyboard backlight option available .

Thanks

Sajjad Khan

HP Elitebook 820 G2 is a series of many models/products with many different options/combinations/configurations. Did you buy model with backlite keyboard option ? Because the specs says:

Keyboard The HP spill-resistant keyboard is designed using a thin layer of Mylar film under the keyboard and includes an all-metal keyboard deck for greater rigidity, as well as HP DuraKeys. The 101/102-key compatible keyboard features a full-pitch key layout with desktop keyboard features, such as editing keys, both left and right control and alt keys, and function keys. US and International key layouts are available. Backlit keyboard available as an option

You probably purchased a model that does not have the backlit keyboard.

You can purchase one for your laptop.

I would line to add: In many cases, the backlit keyboard alone won't work. You have to be sure your existing machine does support this (its motherboard has connectors for keyboard lights).

The ZIF connector should be there.

Click on Keyboard.

The keyboard tool can be  plastic or wood. "Like chop sticks"
