HP EliteBook 840 G3 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! I am back again with a very similar almost identical question. I still have my HP Elitebook 840 G3 Notebook PC, and I have this new projector called Iwimius, and I picked up a j5 create USB-C to 4K HDMI Cable and it seems this won't work. I'm understanding that a HDMI to USB-C won't work to connect to this projector, and that a HDMI to DisplayPort will work?

I tried to connect with the HDMI cord that came with the projector but it simply didn't fit.

So overall, the HDMI to USB-C won't work, and the HDMI To Display Port Will Work?

Below I attached photos of my side laptop, the projector, and the cord I recently picked up, and the one I was recommended for my other projector, but just want to make sure the link will work with connecting the laptop to the projector.

Thank you all very much!

Your 840 G3 ONLY has a hopeless USB-C port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as (in your case to the projector).
