I Have an Elitebook 8530P that will no longer power on when I try and switch on.
After pressing the power button the Battery LED turns on as blue, then the wireless LE D and Disk Activity LED burn Amber for 3 seconds, while the Battery LED switches off.
Then the Wirelss and Disk LED's switch off, the Battery LED turns on White for 1 second. Then it turns off, the Info light next to the power switch tuns on for about 5 seconds switches off and nothing more happens.
This ocurrs when connected to the AC (which I know works as it is charging my other HP Laptop) or under battery.
Any help would be appreciated. I have cleaned the dust out of the cpu fan, I have tried a hard reset and taken the memory out replaced it with other modules as well as trying another HDD.T
Thanks
Andy

Hi,
1. When you power the unit On, Do the Caps and the Num Lock Lights blink?.. If yes, how many times? ( Pattern is 1 blink per second and a 3 second pause)
2. Disconnect the AC Adapter and the Battery. Hold Power Button down for 1 minute. Connect only the AC Adapter. Any activity on the unit?
3. Try only the battery with Step 2.
If the unit is dead after all this, it is safe to assume that we have an issue with the system board.
You could try swapping out the memory config and removing the HDD and see if there is any difference.
Keep us posted!

I had a similar issue with a HP EliteBook 8470p. The battery died completely. I was told that the solution is unpublished by HP. What worked was to:
- Remove the battery AND the AC power adapter.
- Hold the power ON button for a.) either 10 times on and off and then hold down for 30 seconds, or b.) just try holding the power ON down for 30 seconds.
- Then both place the battery into the the chasis of the laptop AND replug the AC power adapter, and then try to power it up and that will allow it to reboot and power up normally.
For whatever reason, it will not power up by simply recharging the battery with the AC cord. You need to go through this process to remove the battery, unplug the AC power adapter, hold the power button hold process for 10 times then 30 seconds on the 11th time with the battery still removed AND the AC power adapter unplugged, and then place the battery back in the chasis and plug in the AC power adapter, and that will allow it to reboot and power up as usual.
