Hi!

Got my brand new HP 8560P 2 weeks ago.

Everything has worked really good so far but a few days ago the computer just went black.

The power-LED is indicating that the computer is charging but when I'm trying to start it it's completely dead.

I have contacted the HP support so I'm only starting this thread since I want to know if this is a common error or not (have already heard about 10 similar cases here in Sweden).

Any ideas how to bring it back from the dead?

Best Regards

^_^

I got the same problem on both my 8560p and a few of my friends also got this problem on their 8560p.

Good Day,

It's probably a failed motherboard.  My department ordered four of these and three out of the four had a failed motherboard within one month.

The only sign of life in my laptop was a blinking amber to white LED charging indicator.

Best of luck.

Andy

Hello Everyone,

Running into the same issues here....

New to the site/board, came across trying to google issues on the 8560p. Still searching, but figured I'd ask here to see if anyone is aware of any issues with the 8560p where they are just not POST'in any longer. Would be working fine one day, then user would return next and it would be a brick. Black screen, won't post, just the white LED light on with a slight flicker.

These are being deployed to users within the last month where I work to replace older models and so far we have had at least 12 with the same symptoms. This is crazy!

So far the motherboards have been replaced on them to get them back up, then have to fight to get them back in a commited state after the board replacement.

Wonder if these are just bad board, or what can be done/updated to prevent this from happening and once it does any way to get it back up other than replacing the board?

Any info, links to info, etc would be appreciated!
Thanks all!

The same just happend over here. A brand new Elitebook 8560p dead. The only activity on the Elitebook is the battery charging LED indicator going from white to yellow, the Elitebook is dead. So probably it's going to be a  UPS pickup and return.

Same thing happened to me in December. I got approved a replacement laptop, also an 8560w and that died after four weeks. Some support guy told me this was caused by a problem at Macronix' plant with some humidity in the production line. They offered a cheaper "replacement", but after going through the specs with a magnifying glass I saw the relevant diffs were SSD vs. HD and BD versus DVD.

Got the new machine and replaced the parts before return. This has really been a hassle and more or less four weeks lost on this "EliteBook" failing twice to a known problem.

Got the same problem with 8560w i5-2450M (dual core).

Could it be related to BIOS updates? I am also suffering keyboard/touchpad problems immediately after BIOS update to F.22.

If it's the same fault it's a production error that manifests itself some time after receiving the machine. With both the machines so far, I've experienced first a failure to boot with some blinking caps/num/etc lights. After some attempts at unplugging and reinserting battery it's gone to just a blinking / flickering white and amber light in front (the power led).

I haven't had anye keyboard/touchpad problems, so they _may_ be unrelated.

They are probably unrelated. I left my computer at specialist's and he managed to get the computer to boot. However, of course, it is not a solution. As my computer is refurbished and without warranty, I had nothing else to do. He managed to start the computer by disconnecting battery, AC adapter and then jump the negative and positive connections of BIOS battery, which is easily accessable under computer.

In my case now at least it boots and works. In your case I think it is wise to ask for solution.

It must be a serious problem. My Elitebook is in repair at the moment, spare parts not available in stock, causing a delay of 2 weeks or more. So if this is related to the problem at the Macronix plant with some humidity in the production line, they probably have to start a new productionline to recreate the replacement parts.
