I have Elitebook 860 G9 laptop, and I have problems, when trying to start the laptop with Dell docking station connected.

I tried 4 different stations: WD19, WD19S, D6000 and D6000s. All stations have current firmware. BIOS is U70 (newest when posting this)

In each case, after starting the laptop it stops at HP/wolf logo, and stays there. If I turn it off, and turn it on again, it freezes again on HP/wolf logo, but this time an icon for RAM sticks present appears too. If I turn it off and on for the third time, this time it will boot correctly. This is consistent 100% of time.

Turning it off, or rebooting, will cause it to enter the freeze loop again.

Devices connected to docking station: LAN, 3.5mm audio to speakers, office keyboard/mouse, 2x Display Port monitors, one HDMI monitor via HDMI-> DVI cable.

Disconnecting them doesn't solve the issue.

I don't have HP Dock to compare to. Same docks connected to G6 850 laptop and G7 840 laptop works correctly.

What could be the issue?

The issue is incompatibility.

The only docks that HP markets as being compatible is the HP USB-C Dock G5

Thank you for the link!

It looks that HP Thunderbolt G4 is also marked as compatible. I may try to order one.

These are docking stations marked as validated by HP. Of course they are not going to test and recommend competitor's products, however at the same time both HP is listing these laptops fully compatible (certified) with Thunderbolt 4 specification, and DisplayLink MTS specification, and same goes for the docking stations. In case they do not work together they're working outside of said specification. And my coworkers' laptops do work with these stations! If they did a firmware lockout for specific vendor or devices, HP would lose Thunderbolt certification, as it is not allowed by Intel.

It's either my laptop is faulty or there is a specific setting, perhaps in UEFI, that causes this behavior. I'd like to know if someone had same issue, before issuing RMA, as it's troublesome.
