Common problems for Battery

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi so my 8770w stopped booting and the power light is blinking 8 times. I initially thought it was the battery so replaced it and the laptop booted just fine. I noticed when I managed to boot the laptop that the battery would not charge when the AC power adapter was plugged in. Ive tried other power adapters and have the same scenario so I replaced the charging port on the back of the laptop with a new one and the same scenario. I tested the AC adapter with a multimeter and it was putting out the correct voltage. Could the charging circuit be faulty on the laptop? Any other ideas would be appreciated.

The maximum number of  error code led blinks is 5 or continuous. See the document at the hyperlink below.

The ac adapter could be faulty or the charging circuit on the system board.

Were the other adapters you tried matching the voltage and current requirements of your 8770 Workstation?

Your workstation requires far more power than most at 200W or 230W. See the specification document.

A power adapter can show voltage, but when placed under a load produce no current.

That is why a multimeter, unless used as an ammeter in series with the notebook and a resistive load, is a poor choice of test tools for a laptop power adapter.

A better test would be to try the adapter in another HP laptop that has the same type of connection and power requirements as yours.

Thanks for the info, I think I will buy another psu for it and see how that goes before I try anything else.  I dont have any other HP hardware to try the adapter in, unfortunately so have limited options in regard to testing. Thanks again and Will let you know the outcome.
