HP Elitebook Folio 1020 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

HP Support Assistant tells me to upgrade the BIOS of my HP Elitebook Folio 1020 G1 (sp99963.exe).

There are mainly two reasons why I'm careful to do this immediately:

1. After following the HP Support Assistant guidance on another notebook (HP EliteBook 8740w) my WLAN and Bluetooth didn't function anymore. After removing the new drivers, Windows 10 installed the right ones again.

2. In other posts I read some users had temperature issues after upgrading their BIOS which forced them to downgrade to an older version of the BIOS.

What would be wise: upgrade the BIOS of the HP Elitebook Folio 1020 G1 or just keep using the current BIOS (2018)?

Thanks in advance,

SJW

Hello

I always update the BIOS to latest version on my HP computers. Very seldom a new BIOS introduce issues, sometime introduces new technologies and functionallity. Often increase security and fixes.

it's your choice to do what you prefare with your notebook.

Hello,

Ok, thanks.

I rechecked the 'temperature issue' post I was referring to and it appeared to be an old post about one of the former BIOS versions. If there has been a BIOS issue at that time, it probably has been solved in one of the later versions.

Therefore I just upgraded the BIOS to the most recent version (M77 01.25) and so far so good.

Thanks again,

SJW
