HP EliteBook 820 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all

My Elitebook has suddenly stopped charging for no reason

When the battery eventually died, the laptop could not be restarted, either with the supplied AC adaptor, or with the HP docking station. Both supplies are known to be good.

I downloaded the HP Diagnostics software tool, and with the supplied AC adaptor connected, I ran the AC Adaptor test and it came back with FAILED and to contact HP Support. The laptop is out of warranty.

I purchased a new battery, thinking that would cure the problem, but this has made no difference.

The BIOS version is HP N75 Ver 01.24 30/01/2018 (this matches another identical laptop that we use)

Notably, when using the HP docking station, when you slide the mechanism to engage the docking, the power button on top of the docking station does not illuminate, whereas it does illuminate when we use the other identical laptop (which has no issues).

Grateful for any other suggestions as to what the problem could be.
