That is stated by HP as "This issue can occur when attempting to set a BIOS password, updating the system BIOS to the latest version, after PXE boot, or during SCCM setup."
Which version of BIOS is installed in your EliteBook 840 g6 ?
After you provide that information I can ask an official HP laptop Subject Matter Expert if there is a BIOS fix in the works for that issue.
