Hi there,
Unfortunately, just joined the club. The right-hand hinge on my HP Envy 15.6" X360 simply separated and a tiny screw popped out without any warning/rhyme or reason?... as per many others it appears. I was extremely happy with it until this happened and am perplexed that something like this could happen to a quality HP product, especially as I have owned HP Laptops previously, this one was hardly ever used as a tablet or in any travels and just sat on a side table.
As a considerably expensive item it got the due care and attention as do all my tools and equipment, so I am at a loss as to what could have possibly caused this failure, apart from what has already been experienced and identified here and elsewhere as a possible and probable design and manufacturing defect, as when metal studs encased in molded plastic sockets are placed under considerable repeated stress & pressure even for a short time it's a recipe for disaster and doomed to fail. Which leaves me wondering 'Where to from here?' Laptop is sadly out of warranty, purchased @ XMAS 2022 but hardly used first 12 months due to incompatible software that ran on the earlier Win 95 only machine. Some advice and direction would be greatly appreciated.
