I have the same issue, HP ENVY 15-k220nr, no power, no lights, checked and replaced several items.....power button board, power connector, battery, ac adapter and there still is no power, no, lights. What else could there be? Is there a power accumulator on the HP ENVY?

I have tried everything that has been suggested.

The computer was operating doing a podcast. The computer shutdown without any notice or sign.

There was no power light at the AC adapter, No light at the power button.

I changed the power connector, power button board, replaced the AC adapter and the battery.

There is still no lights anywhere.

Is this a failure on the system board?

Is there any component on the system board that would could a failure such as described?

Thank you for any assistance.

@Radar609

Thank you for posting back.

In most scenario, there are some early warning signs when a computer component is going bad.

See the below symptoms associated with system board/hardware failures:
The On/Off indicator lights are visible and the system appears dead and there is no bootup.
The system locks up during normal operation.
The system produces a beep code with one, two, three, five or six
beeps.
The system produces a beep code of one long and three short beeps

Here is a few LEDs indication:
LEDs blink 1 time CPU CPU not functional
LEDs blink 2 times BIOS BIOS corruption failure
LEDs blink 3 times Memory Module error not functional
LEDs blink 4 times Graphics Graphics controller not functional
LEDs blink 5 times System board General system board failure
LEDs blink 6 times BIOS BIOS authentication failure

I'm sending out a Private message with the reset instructions,

Laptop was operating...doing a podcast. Laptop shutdown...no lights after that point.

There are no power lights. Replaced the power connector, power button board, AC Adapter and battery and there is still no lights at the AC adapter or the power button.

I have tried the hard reset and nothing.

What on the system board would have caused this failure?

I cannot get any warning signs because there are no lights, no power.

What next?

@Radar609

There are several reasons that the motherboard could go bad. Few important reasons I came up with are:

  • Heating or Overheating Issue
  • Electrical Spikes and Surges
  • Ageing, Wear & Tear

Hope this helps!

The computer is 2 years old and taken care of...looks new!.

I used a cooling pad most of the time.

Is the there any component that would cause a complete shutdown as I have described.

The computer shutdown as I was doing a podcast without any notice. Then no  power as described before.

Thank you for posting back.

A PC shutting down suddenly is usually a sign of a power problem. Generally, when a computer powers down on its own it's due to the power supply, malware, overheating or driver issues etc.

As I've mentioned earlier, please refer to the private message that I've sent.

Thank you for your help.

I am aware that this is  power issue.

I have replaced the power supply and all components directly affcting the power ging to the laptop.

No malware, no updates, no driver issues...overheating should not have been an issue. I used a cooling pad.

No lights...at the ac adapter or the power button.

What component would cause a shutdown of the entire system like this? And not indicate any power at all? Anywhere?

Hi @Radar609

Since @Echo_Lake is not in the office, I will take this forward.

I see that you have replaced the power button board, battery, ac adapter and the power connector.

This seems to be an issue with the motherboard installed on your computer. I am not sure which part of the motherboard would have caused this issue. This can be checked by a local HP Authorized technician or by our service center.

I would recommend you to contact our Phone Support Team to get the motherboard replaced and they will help you.

Details for contacting was sent to you on a private message by my colleague @Echo_Lake
