5JR84AV (15z-cp000?)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

Sorry in advanced if this has been asked before but I could not find a thread that specifically discussed my model number. Anyway, I recently purchased a HP Envy 15z with AMD 2700U, in my order number the product number is 5JR84AV but when searching through support forum it seem to resolve to model number 15z-cp000. The configuration I bought comes with a 1TB HDD but I was wondering if I could install a NVMe m.2 (specifically 500GB HP EX900 NVMe SSD) on the laptop IN ADDITION to the 1TB HDD? Are there different motherboards/configurations that would exclude the NVMe m.2 port? Would the motherboard somehow disable the 2.5 HDD if a m.2 SSD is installed (maybe for power purposes)?

Also I noticed there are two 256gb NVMe drives available for this laptop with part numbers:

L19452-001 - 256-GB, M.2 2280, PCIe3×4, NVMe, SS solid-state drive with TLC

L25974-001 - 256-GB, 2280, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive with TLC

What's the difference between these two? Only readable difference I see is PCIe3x4 vs PCIe? Is one faster than the other?

Last couple of questions that you can feel free to ignore but are there any restrictions when buying new memory/ram for my laptop? Would a 16gb memory module work?

Thank you for the help in advance,
Barom

Hi! @barom, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I understand you would like to know if you can upgrade your PC to a 500GB M.2 SDD.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

By not wasting much of your time here.

I have checked the specifications of your laptop and found that your laptop supports M.2 SSD. And you can upgrade your laptop to a 500GB M.2 SSD.

However, the product has been tested and tried only with the following parts below.

256-GB, M.2 2280, PCIe3×4, NVMe, SS solid-state drive with TLC L19452-001
256-GB, 2280, PCIe, NVMe solid-state drive with TLC L25974-001-SSD256GB 2280 PCIe NVMe Value

I have checked the records and both the parts are an M.2 compatible and the first part uses 3.0 channels and the seconds one uses the PCIe 2.0 channel.

Also, As you also wanted to upgrade the memory on your laptop the maximum memory laptop supported by your laptop is 16GB.

Memory module

8-MB (2400, 1.2-V, DDR4) 862397-855

Refer the laptop user guide to know more information. Click Here

Note: Refer page 16 for more information.

Also, you can purchase the parts from HP parts store using this link. Click Here

Hope to this answers your query!
