Common problems for Battery

I recently purchased an HP Envy 16-h0xxx.  Part of the reason was HP stated it can be charged from USB while turned on.  I have tried many USB-C adapters and docking stations, including a 100 W charger that is currently the highest power available for sale; nothing charges this laptop by the USB-C port unless the laptop is powered off.  It won't even charge from the USB-C port while the laptop is asleep, because it wakes up the computer and disables charging.  Is there anyway to charge the laptop via USB-C while the laptop is turned on?

It's a 16-h1023dx model.  From other reports of people that purchased this exact model, this doesn't support USB-C charging unless the laptop is completely powered off.  A lack of support for USB-C charging in 2023 is very disappointing.  My 5-year-old Lenovo mobile workstation that I am replacing allowed charging via USB-C; even if it consumed more than 65-100 W, depending on your USB-C charger, it would at least prolong the battery life.

Sounds like 100W is not enough. What is your HP Envy 16-h0xxx machine ? How much wattage rating for your existing HP machine now ?

You need a right charger which has wattage rating is equal or higher your current charger.

Regards.
