Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 17m-bw0013dx laptop.  I am currently in the process of adding 32GB of RAM to the motherboard.  However, here's my question.  I have used Speccy, a program from Piriform, to determine what quad-core processor I used.  The CPU is an i7-8550u.  I am looking to upgrade this processor to a bit faster one.  The only CPU upgrade I found is an i7 core 9500 (I think; and would need to double check to verify).

I have searched HP's product manuals and found the User Guide.  The User Guide does not explain the motherboard, its components, technical specifications, etc. and so on.  What I do know from Speccy is it's a LGA-1211 socket motherboard.

My question to the HP community at large is: what would be the best upgrade for this type of laptop because I'm looking to crank out a lot of power and run games more smoothly as the year 2022 marches on.  Thank you!

Hi:

Your notebook's processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded unless you replace the motherboard with one listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual that may come with a better processor, and I believe that you are already at the top of the mark with the processor your notebook has.

The costs associated with doing such an upgrade would come close to what you paid for the notebook and is almost always a poor return on investment.
