HP Envy Broken Hinge

I went to close my laptop and I heard a pop and the hinge on the right side is now broken. Of course my laptop is out of warranty, however, once this happened I researched this on the web it seems this is a wide spread manufacturing problem. I am writing here to find out if HP is standing behind this product and fixing it for free since mine and so many others are due to a faulty product, not damage.  It would definitely be the right thing to do, so I'd like to know if HP is supporting their customers and products. Thank you.
