I have bought HP Envy DV6t-7200 laptop in Nov 2012 and its working good until now except I have lesser battery charges (battery won't caliberate) and a vertical line is there on display. My problem is -
- I am trying to identify appropriate BIOS version and/or trying to update proper drivers. This laptop initially came with Windows 8 and later was upgraded to Windows 10. I couldn't find windows 10 OS in the drop down when i allow HP to detect my system to update drivers.
- I have ran HP PC hardware diagnostic tests. All tests are passed except Battery check and AC adapter tests. Status is coming as "Cancelled".
- I understand battery might need to be replaced. However, with the issue mentioned in point 1, i don't know how in future, I can update drivers.
- Overall, this is the first laptop that has survived these many years with me. All other laptops are dead in 2 to 3 years :-). Bought this laptop in USA and currently in India. Any help is appreciated.

@ranjchil Welcome to HP Forums Community!
I must let you know that the DV6t wasn't manufactured to support Windows 10, you've upgraded due to the windows push services and since HP didn't make your pc for that version of windows, we don't have updates that apply for it, your best and only option to update drivers going forward is to locate the manufacturer of each part and go to their respective websites or install 3rd party applications such as driverscape, etc, and download the drivers accordingly.
As for the battery issue:
I suggest you run a test specific to the battery issue using the below steps:
HP provides diagnostic software you can use to test hardware components on your computer and confirm hardware failures. The Battery Test checks your system to make sure the battery is functioning properly, tests the batteries, and allows you to run calibration if needed.
To download the Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, go to the HP Hardware Diagnostics website. In the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows section, click Download Diagnostics Windows, then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows.
Use the following instructions to test the battery:
-
Turn on the computer.
-
If your computer does not start normally, press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI menu displays, then continue to the next step.
-
If your computer starts normally, search for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, right-click on the app in the search results, then select Run as administrator.
-
-
Click Component Tests in the main menu.
-
In the list of Component Tests, click Power.
-
In the list of Power Tests, click Battery Check or Battery.
-
On the Battery Test, click Run once.
The Battery Test begins. The Battery Test takes about two minutes. The Battery Calibration, if needed, requires 2 to 4 hours. You can cancel at any time by pressing the Escape (Esc) key.
-
When the testing is done, review the first line on the Battery Check page that displays for the status or condition of the battery.
-
If your battery passed, click Main Menu or click Battery Details for more information.
-
If your battery failed, continue with these steps.
-
-
If your battery failed, write down the battery status and Failure ID.and get back to us with the result.
Also, the vertical line:
Check with an alternate monitor or restart the device and tap on F10 to access the BIOS screen and let me know if the line appears on that as well.
P.S: Welcome to HP Forums! 😉
Let me know how that pans out,

Thank you @Riddle_Decipher. I will try driverscape for my driver update issue. As per battery, I have done tests from
- HP Support Assistant - Test from here resulted that battery is functioning correctly. However, needs to calibrate.
- HP PC Hardware Diganostic Windows- This tool cancelled the test altogethe, i.e., test ran for sometime and then i got result as cancelled.
- BIOS component test - I got some code from here 42 which specially said battery is failed and need to be replaced.
As I am in India currently, I couldn't get info on which battery to buy. Currently, I am running my laptop on AC power. I have to replace my battery asap. Please suggest which battery should be good. Thanks for your help again.
Edit - I have verified that vertical line appears in BIOS too. Also, if i try to close my laptop lid, i can see more vertical lines appear and they disappear as soon as i keep lid open

HP has not issued specific Windows 10 drivers for your laptop it stopped at Windows 8. Even the Windows 8 drivers mostly are no more recent than 2012. The latest BIOS is F.2E from September, 2016. If you do not have that version you can install it in Windows 10. Beyond that, any driver updates are going to have to come from Windows Update or from individual component manufacturer site. If everything is working OK I would not worry too much about it. Your battery clearly needs to be replaced and I would not let the issue of the drivers/BIOS stand in the way of that. If you want to keep the laptop (and there is no reason not to if its working OK for you) I would invest in a new battery, perhaps getting a third party battery which you can likely find for a very low price.
Battery:
9-cell, 100-Wh, 3.0-Ah, Li-ion battery 672412-001
6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.8-Ah, Li-ion battery 671731-001
6-cell, 47-Wh, 2.2-Ah, Li-ion battery 699468-001
As for the line on the screen there is no way to fix that very inexpensively. A screen panel might cost about the equivalent of $80 US but is obviously a much bigger job than replacing the battery.

Thank you @Huffer. I can see my BIOS version as Insyde F.29, 10/3/2013. Earlier, I have tried to update BIOS from System startup (F2) way, It couldn't find the image. I will try to update to the version you have specified.
I will replace the battery as well. I have faced vertical line with the screen 6 months back and it got solved on its own and I am seeing it again. I am able to work with the laptop for now and will see if the screen also needs replacement. Thank you
Edit - You have mentioned the battery types correctly. I have uploaded the battery that I am using since Nov 2012 for my laptop.
