Hello HP Community,

I am reaching out with a serious concern regarding my HP Envy laptop (Serial: [edited). The right hinge has broken, which caused stress on the screen and eventually led to:

  • A cracked screen
  • Touch functionality not working
  • Fear of further damage if I continue to open the lid

I have never dropped or misused the laptop. This issue occurred during normal use, and after researching online, I discovered that this hinge issue is a known problem with the HP Envy series — several other users have reported similar failures, even outside warranty.

My warranty expired about a year ago, but I am currently facing financial hardship and job loss. This laptop is my only tool for learning and applying to jobs. I have already logged an official case: 5146618104.

I’m requesting goodwill repair support, as this well known  a design flaw and not user-caused damage.

I’m not here to complain — just reaching out for help. Any assistance or direction would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you,

Dhrub

This happened at the worst possible time — I recently lost my job and am going through serious financial hardship. This laptop is my only tool to upskill, apply for jobs, and get back on my feet. Seeing it fail due to a known design flaw feels like the final nail in the coffin.

There are dozens of posts across HP forums, Reddit, and YouTube showing similar issues — and in many cases, HP has supported customers through goodwill repair, even when out of warranty.

Please escalate my case or let me know what can be done. I still have hope that HP will stand by its users in situations like this.
