Opened my laptop today only for the left hinge to get caught and it seems completely broken. I've never been rough with it and have never dropped it. If I try to close it or open it further, it pulls the screen away from the backing and looks like it is close to breaking. After further investigation, I am finding out that this is a common problem with this model but my warranty has expired. Sending it in for repair would cost hundreds and I am honestly angry at HP for knowingly selling this product with such a big design flaw, this will probably be my last HP laptop. Any tips from those who had the same issue and how you solved it on a budget? I am a university student and use this computer for school and daily use so I can't really afford to be without it. Thank you!

Hi @HBicecream,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that this is a Hardware issue. However, the support here is limited to software troubleshooting. However, since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who would have the option to schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.
Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
