HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15m-ed0023dx

I opened my laptop and, just like many others, I found that the hinge on the left side of my Envy 360 had popped out of the internal mechanism and the screen is separating away from the back of the laptop in that corner. I can't fully open my laptop and have not closed it for fear of causing damage to the screen, as right now the hinge is the only issue. Two small screws fell out when the hinge broke, and no damage has occurred to the laptop prior to this. I've been doing research and have found both in these forums and online in general that this is an incredibly common issue for this laptop and others, to the point that there is at least one class action lawsuit against HP for this problem. My warranty has expired and HP wants me to pay just to talk to someone about this when this has been a consistent, repeated problem for them that they are at fault for. I have always taken great care of this laptop and the fact that this is a known issue is extremely frustrating, especially because this has happened only as a result of using the laptop, and therefore the hinges, for its intended purposes. All laptops with this fault should have been recalled, repaired, and sent back to the owners at HP's expense, instead of all of us having to go through this months and even years later.

Hi @KaiTheKoi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Splendid analysis and remarkable patience were shown. It is immensely appreciated.

I understand that this is a Hardware issue. However, the support here is limited to software troubleshooting. Since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who can schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.

For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
