- HP Envy Notebook Battery Issue - Plugged In But Not Charging...

For some time I have noticed my laptop, when charger adapter plugged in, will begin as 'plugged in, charging' but after 1 minute it will turn to 'plugged in, not charging'. Sometimes the percentage increases and decreases by a couple of percentage.
I have looked all over and tried different advice from these forums, but none specify laptops/notebooks that have inbuilt batteries.
I have looked over threads like this one https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Laptop-plugged-in-not-charging/td-p/512205... and followed each step (look below), to no avail.
I ran a diagnostic using hp assistant and the battery is okay, when plugged in and not. What I have noticed is the battery has a much-reduced capacity, designed with 4560 mAh but now having 3142 mAh instead. This is probably due to my gaming and power-hungry software that I need to run using my laptop.
Other than the steps below, how could I fix this? Thanks
Steps from this link https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Laptop-plugged-in-not-charging/td-p/512205...
Please perform below-shown steps to resolve the issue:
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter
Step 09. Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon
After performing all the steps if you are facing the same issue still, please perform three more steps:
1. Run a Battery Check in HP Support Assistant[Install the Software if it's not available]
Note: Replace the Battery If Health Check Status shows Replace
2. Update the latest BIOS for your Notebook from HP Support Site
3. Please check your Notebook with a known good Power Adapter & Battery from a different Notebook
Note: If a known good battery is also not charging we need to replace the system board

@skillysantos
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Run hardware diagnostics test on battery and Charger:
Use the following steps to open the Component Tests menu.
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests.
- The Component Tests menu displays. Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.
- To run both tests simultaneously, in the Component Tests menu, click Power Source, and then click Run once. Each component can also be tested individually.
AC Adapter Test:
The AC Adapter test provides an interactive test to determine if the AC power adapter is functioning properly. A good battery is required for this test. Before running the AC Adapter Test, HP recommends verifying that your computer can receive power by connecting a known working AC adapter.
Follow these steps to perform the AC Adapter Test.
- In the Component Tests menu, click Power, and then click an AC Adapter Test.
- Click Run once.
- The AC Adapter Test begins.
- When the test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
Battery Test:
Follow these steps to perform the Battery Test:
- In the Component Tests menu, click Power, and then click Battery.
- Click Run once. The Battery Test begins.
- When the battery test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen. For additional battery information, click Battery Details.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @Echo_Lake,
I followed your instructions and after completing the test a few times, I have these screenshots of the test (below).
Since I am not entirely sure what they mean exactly, is the test telling me that I should replace my [internal] battery? and what's the best way forward?
Thanks
