Hi everyone. I have HP Envy Notebook Model# 15t-ae100.
I want to add another harddrive to my laptop but there is only one, I cme across some information saying i can swap out the DVD Drive for some tpe of hard drive caddy.
My question is this possible for my specific model laptop? And what is the correct part i would need to do so?

Yes — you can usually replace the optical (DVD) drive in an HP Envy 15t-ae100 with a 2.5″ HDD/SSD caddy and use that bay for a second drive. HP’s service manuals and teardown guides show the optical drive is removable and other Envy 15 models have been fitted with a 2.5″ bay caddy.
What part you need
A 2.5″ SATA optical-bay HDD/SSD caddy (sometimes called a “DVD drive caddy” or “optical bay adapter”). It holds a 2.5″ SATA drive and provides a SATA connection where the optical drive used to be. Search terms that work:
HP Envy 15 optical bay 2.5" caddy or 2.5" SATA HDD caddy for slim optical drive 9.5mm/12.7mm.
Important compatibility details — what to check before buying
1. Optical-drive thickness — caddies come in slim sizes (most common are 9.5 mm and 12.7 mm). You must match the caddy thickness to your laptop’s optical drive bay (measure the existing DVD drive or check the service manual). Many Envy 15 models use the slim (9.5 mm) drives, but confirm for your unit.
2. SATA interface — the caddy must have the same slim SATA connector used by the optical drive (most universal caddies use the same SATA slim connector and work in HP laptops).
3. Mounting bracket / bezel — some HP models require transferring the small bracket or connector board from the original optical drive to the caddy, or buying a caddy that includes the proper front bezel/mount. Look at the optical drive screws and bracket when
you remove it.
