The laptop was fine yesterday. I put the screen down and left it. I woke up today to find the power button does not wake it from sleep (?). Pressing the power button does nothing, no lights appear. A long press of the power button (15 seconds+) does nothing. Plugging in the power cable shows a constant white light.
I have tried - no power cable:
- A short press of the power button.
- A long press of the power button
With Power cable:
- A short press of the power button
- A long press of the power button
When the power cable is plugged in, it shows a constant white light.

The problem fixed itself? I left the laptop alone for a bit. Whilst the power cable was not plugged in. I did a short press of the power button and it just worked. Booted up as if nothing was wrong. Apologies if anyone else is having this issue and is reading this. I didn't do anything special when attempting to fix this.
The only thing I attempted was pressing the power button at different lengths of time.
The issue is resolved I assume.

That is likely to be either a battery issue, a power adapter problem or an electronic component failure on the notebook's system board.

When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key.
Type in msinfo32 and press enter.
The ninth line is the SKU and the HP product number. Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.
An alternative method:
Take a look at the bottom of the notebook among the tiny letters and locate the ProdID.
The ProdID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.

That could mean that the battery has issues and the power adapter voltage supply to the notebook is working.
If I were you I would consider running the Windows Battery-Report utility to see how far the battery has deviated from its factory designed current storage capacity.
I described how to do that in a Tribal Knowlegebase article that I wrote a few years ago.
