Hi @DenisFXD,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing fast battery drain on your HP ENVY x360 15 Convertible PC 15-es2000, there are several potential causes and solutions you can try.

  • Check power-hungry applications: Certain applications or processes running in the background can consume a significant amount of power. Open the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check the "Processes" or "Details" tab to identify any resource-intensive applications. If you find any, you can close them or consider uninstalling unnecessary programs.
  • Adjust power settings: Your power settings might be configured to prioritize performance over battery life. Open the Control Panel, go to "Hardware and Sound," and then click on "Power Options." Select a power plan that is optimized for battery life, such as "Power Saver." You can also customize the power plan to reduce screen brightness, put the computer to sleep quicker or adjust other settings that affect power consumption.
  • Update drivers and BIOS: Outdated drivers and BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) can sometimes cause battery drain issues. Visit the official HP support website for your specific model (15-es2000) and download the latest drivers and BIOS updates. Install them and restart your computer to see if it improves battery life.
  • Disable unnecessary background processes: Some applications and services run in the background and consume power even when you're not actively using them. Open the Task Manager and check the "Startup" tab to see which programs are set to launch at startup. Disable any unnecessary programs to reduce power usage.
  • Reduce screen brightness: The display backlighting is one of the major power consumers. Lowering the screen brightness can significantly extend battery life. You can usually adjust the brightness using the dedicated function keys on your keyboard or by accessing the display settings in the Control Panel.
  • Check for malware: Malicious software can sometimes cause abnormal battery drain. Run a reputable antivirus or anti-malware scan on your computer to check for any infections. If any malware is detected, follow the recommended steps to remove it.
  • Calibrate the battery: Occasionally, calibrating the battery can help improve its performance and accuracy in reporting battery levels. To calibrate the battery, allow it to fully discharge until the laptop shuts down, then plug in the power adapter and let it charge uninterrupted until it reaches 100%.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
