Microsoft Windows 11

For some time, my fingerprint reader has not worked and I can't use Windows Hello sign-in. This was the case on Windows 10 x64, the same currently after having upgraded to Windows 11 x64.

I go into Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options > Fingerprint Recognition (Windows Hello).

I hit setup, Get Started, put in my pin, then whether I touch the reader or not, it says "Sorry, something went wrong" and that's it. I can repeat this as many times as one would like and it's just the same each time.

I've gone to my laptop's product page, and downloaded the fingerprint reader's driver, tried to install, reboot, nothing. No change.

I'd really appreciate any help with this, thank you.
