We have received your product at our repair center and evaluated the problem. The service required to fix the issue is not covered by warranty either due to accidental damage or the warranty has expired. Details of your product and the price for service are as follows:
Model Description: HP ENVY X360 CONVERTIBLE 15M-EE0013DX
Service Status:: Accidental Damage
Price: $637.23 (includes taxes).
I bought the HP Envy 4 months ago and have never taken it off of my desk besides to plug it in to play movies occasionally. Opened it one day - normally - to hear a super loud crack and of course the entire hinge is hanging by a thread. The plastic that the hinge is connected to has completely cracked off. It looks like too much torque is being put on these two hinges.
Sent the laptop in for repair and they said it was a customer issue and that I had to pay $630 to get the laptop fixed. It cost me $660 to purchase the entire thing. 4 months ago.
Honestly I would bite the bullet if it was my fault but truly it wasnt. Does HP not stand by their manufacturer's warranty? Is there anything I can do to get them to fix this?
I cant believe this is happening. This is my 3rd HP product and could be my last.

@TMChicago, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
