Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

just noticed yesterday that the system tray shows the the battery plugged in but not charging.

I think i have tried all the tricks i could find:

  1. uninstall battery drivers
  2. update the bios
  3. run various battery diagnostic tools, they indicate good battery health and that the battery is charging
  4. how ever when i run battery diagnostics at i boot i get an error.

is there anything else i can try?

This is a wonderful illustration of how worthless the simple OK/Not OK indicator can be. I like to compare it to the idiot light on the dashboard of your car. You also posted the advanced diagnostic output which clearly shows you have a bad battery and it needs replaced and yet the simply indicator says "OK". If you need help locating a battery let us know and tell us where you live (country).

Actually, I tried the install battery driver routine again, this time disconnecting the battery, and everything is all sorted now. So it appears the battery is not at fault.

I hope it stays that way for you. The error message indicates a pretty serious problem with the battery but always possible its a false positive.

looks like i was premature with my optimism. Next reboot back to not chagring while windows is running.

Is this a battery issue after all? what tis the 'blown fuse' spoke about in the log?

also attached another partial battery report below

Give some credit here. I completely predicted the issue would return because you have a bad battery. A battery is not just a bunch of charging cells there are circuits and fuses in there and the battery has a blown fuse. Needs replacement. That will cure the problem.

Here is the Service Manual for "how to" on battery replacement:

Manual

You need this part number:

(23) Battery (3-cell, 52-WHr, 4.56-AHr, Li-ion; includes cable) 849313-856

Search by HP Part number. Where do you live (country)?

Thanks, I'm in the UK, London area.

HP Parts Store in UK does not have it. HP only sells batteries for a limited time and after that you must use the aftermarket.

This is a US eBay seller with very high feedback who ships to UK selling a genuine battery for a pretty fair price:
