I have an HP Envy laptop, just over a year old so out of warranty.  I am trying to add my Brother printer but when I plug the printer into the laptop, the laptop does not recognize the printer has been plugged in.  I know the printer and cable are fine as I can plug into a different computer and print with no problem.  I have the drivers added and when I try to manually add the printer I see the drivers and I can add the printer to one of the existing ports.  The problem is there are no USB ports listed.  Why are there no USB ports?  How do I add the ports?  No USB ports means I cannot print.

@Timk15

Please use USB 2.0 port on your computer. Hope this helps

That is not the issue.  The  "USB001 (virtual printer port for USB)" that is normally there is not present.  Installing the drivers for my printer is not adding it.  I am installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.  Can it be added some other way?
