HP envy 360, I've had for about four years, the bottom left hand corner of the screen has started popping out of the case.
Really annoying, the only thing to do is just leave it permanently open.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks,
Joseph

Hi there,
For anyone facing the same problem as me on this, here's the solution I had.
I went to Curry's PC World. Paid £50 (service fee), they then sent it off to their repair shop, rang me up and said it was going to cost another £166 on top of that -- £130 for a replacement back for the screen, £36 labour.
At which point I just needed to get it back as I use it for work, so had to just pay. About 10 days after I put it in I got it back repaired.
How long before it breaks again, who knows? It was the plastic in the back of the screen that had failed that attaches to the hinge, not the hinge itself. They said they see a fair amount of cases like this.
Bad design for an expensive product. I had to pay total of £216 to get it fixed, which is just over 25% of what I paid for the laptop originally. Really if the part is so likely to fail the replacement shouldn't be so expensive.
There was no help forthcoming from the HP support staff as I'm out of warranty.
I was lucky my screen hadn't yet cracked, as that would've cost a lot too I imagine!
All the best,
Joseph

Hi there,
Has anyone got any thoughts or solutions for this? I've been looking around a bit more, and it seems it's a known fault for these laptops - is that correct. I certainly haven't done anything to break it, I take very good care of it seeing as I depend on it for my work
Thanks!

Hi @Max3Aj
Thanks for your reply, the HP Service centres that come up on the map that you've linked me to don't actually seem to be places that would service my laptop for me.
The only 2 that are actually within London and therefore I'm able to get to - though each is still at least an hour away - are https://ethos.co.uk/ and https://www.logixal.co.uk/
Neither of these seem to be the kind of company that would service my laptop, though am I wrong about that?
Please advise me as to what my other options are.
Is this a known fault with these laptops - and should I just expect it to break, though nothing I have done warrants that?
Thanks,
Joseph

PS it does seem like a common problem going way back - see this thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy-x360-Right-Hinge-Broke...
Have HP got any fixes for it?
Thanks!

Hey @Max3Aj
This just got worse today with a chunk of metal popping out from under the bottom left hand side of the screen. I'm worried the screen may crack of I move it at all.
At a bit of a loss as to what to do. Should I just take it to Curry's PC World to see if they can fix it?
See photo attached for the problem.
Not sure I can actually close the laptop now to be able to take it out of the house.
Frantically backing up everything, very stressful!
Coudl someone reply?
Thanks,
Joseph

Hey Joseph,
Thank you so much for sharing this. I have the exact same problem now (and we don't seem to be the only ones), and as I'm experiencing myself and also reading other's stories, HP provides horrible customer service (if at all). So I'm really thankful for you sharing your solution. Thanks again, you are of better help than the customer support of a multi-billion-dollar company!
