After updating the BIOS from F31 to F32 the USB-C behaves differently! External monitors are no longer detected - they worked fine before. The LAN connection is not detected anymore - it worked fine before.

Please provide a BIOS update that works or provide a downgrade to F31!!!!!!!!! Instantly please!!!!!! People work with their computers and that you break a running system with a BIOS update is outrageous - but sadly a normality at HP as the internet forums suggest.

* It took me one day to find out by trying and googling that HP very often releases new BIOS which is faulty and instead of improving things breaks working systems. Thats an absolute shock.

* Second thing to find out that one cannot downgrade to the previous BIOS that worked - there are loads of threads online reporting the same - BIOS upgrade broke the system and downgrading not possible. This is another total shock.

* I am using Linux and thought my Envy would work fine with Ubuntu, but far away from working fine. Nothing is working and HP is not even providing basic hardware details such that the linux community can help themselves when HP gives a dime about supporting linux!

This was my first HP and certainly the last - after 35 years of using computers this is my first HP and i thought HP would be a brand that delivers, but honestly HP is the last crap and I regret spending so much money on a HP Envy x360 2 in 1.

Hi @PepiFU ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand It’s frustrating when critical functionality breaks due to a BIOS update, especially when it impacts work and productivity. Here's what you can do to address the issue with your HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop:

Immediate Actions:

Verify BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing F10 during boot.
  • Check if USB-C and LAN settings (such as Thunderbolt support or network stack) are enabled. BIOS updates sometimes reset these settings to defaults.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • For Linux:
    • Ensure you're using the latest Linux kernel version. Update your kernel if necessary, as newer kernels often include fixes for hardware compatibility.
  • For Windows (if dual-booted):
    • Update your USB-C, display adapter, and network drivers through HP Support Assistant or manually from HP's driver support page.

BIOS Recovery or Downgrade:

  • Download BIOS version F31 from the HP Support site (if available). If the site does not provide it, contact HP support directly and request the previous BIOS version.
  • Use the HP BIOS Recovery Tool:
    1. Turn off your laptop.
    2. Press and hold Win + B (or Win + V for some models) while pressing the power button for 2-3 seconds.
    3. Release the power button but keep holding the keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for trying, but your "answers" are completely irrelevant and embarrassing "copy paste". You write that

* Verify Bios Settings - there are no such settings in the crap BIOS HP installs. Why do you think I ask the support? To hear nonsense that does not apply to my computer? Why dont you verify the validity of such nonsense answers before "answering"? This cannot even be called an answer but is stupid copy paste of irrelevant text.

* Update or Reinstall Drivers - didn't the post mention that all worked great before a BIOS update from F31 to F32 broke the system? Why should one reinstall drivers that have not the slightest thing to do with the HP BIOS?

* BIOS recovery or downgrade - again you completely failed to even understand the issue and have not done the slightest effort to verify your response because its complete nonsense! Your own website writes that F32 cannot be downgraded for security reasons.Just install ubuntu 24 on similar system, and run the BIOS downgrade from F32 to F31 and then write how to do that! Everything else from you - not interested!

Your response is completely wrong and embarrassing as none of the statements applies to my system which you could have found out with due dilligence. It is obvious that you do not have the slightest capacity to help people and such rubbish response has the adverse effect and setsup people even more!

Certainly this was the first and last HP device I will touch! I am not paying premium money for such embarrassing bla bla.
