HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop (2023 model) — Not Turning On & Not Charging
- Laptop worked perfectly on Sunday, shut down normally.
- After 4 days, it won’t turn on at all — black screen, no fan, no keyboard light.
- Original HP charger works with other laptops.
- Charging port LED does not light up at all when plugged in (normally it’s red/orange).
- Tried hard reset (held power button 60 sec) — no effect.
- Battery is non-removable, so can’t reseat.
- No signs of physical damage.
- Possible cause: DC charging port loose/broken OR charging circuit on motherboard failed.
Request:
Need advice on possible fixes — has anyone faced this? Any DIY checks before visiting service? Or is service center the only way for DC jack or power IC repair?

@Nishok_Varshan1, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP Envy x360 2-in-1 (2023 model) is not turning on and the charging LED is not lighting up, you could be facing either a hardware or power delivery issue. Since you’ve already tried some basic troubleshooting (hard reset, confirming the charger works with other laptops), here are some additional steps specific to HP laptops that could help resolve the issue:
Perform a Hard Reset Again
Even though you’ve already tried a hard reset, it’s worth repeating a few key steps. Here’s how:
Unplug the charger from the laptop.
Hold down the power button for 15–30 seconds to discharge any residual power from the laptop.
Release the power button, and then plug in the charger (make sure the charger is working and connected properly).
Press the power button again and hold it for a few seconds to see if the laptop powers on.
Check the Charger and Power Cable
Inspect the charger for any visible damage (frays, exposed wires, bent pins).
Ensure the charger is properly plugged into the laptop and wall outlet.
If possible, test the charger with another HP laptop (or another compatible charger with your laptop) to rule out charger failure.
Check the Power LED Indicator
Normally, a charging LED (often orange or white) will light up when plugged in.
If the charging port LED is not lighting up at all, there may be an issue with the charging circuit or port.
Inspect the DC Charging Port
Inspect the charging port for any signs of damage, debris, or loose connections. Sometimes dirt or foreign objects can block the connection.
Gently wiggle the power plug in the charging port to see if you can notice any changes (like intermittent lighting of the LED or fan activity). This may indicate a loose or broken connection.
External Monitor Check
If you suspect the issue is with the screen rather than the laptop's internal power system, connect the laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the display.
If the external monitor works, you may have a screen-related issue (e.g., damaged display cable or faulty display).
BIOS Reset or Recovery (If Possible)
If your laptop's motherboard and internal power components seem functional but the system still won’t turn on:
Try a BIOS reset: HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
