I'm finding conflicting information online as to whether or not I can upgrade the ram on the 13 inch model for the HP envy x360. I need at least 12 GB RAM for my IT course, but this only comes with a standard 8GB. Thanks.

Hi:
Most of the 13" notebooks have the memory soldered to the motherboard and it cannot be upgraded.
In any event, if you want an answer regarding the model notebook you have, you will need to provide the full model number or product number of your notebook.

You're very welcome.
We have some very conflicting info here, but the answer is in the last section of my reply.
The product specs for your notebook indicates that it comes with 8 GB of onboard system memory.
'Onboard' means the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

Then if you look at the service manual on your notebook model series' support page, here is the conflict:
For one thing, it is for the older 13m-bd0xxx model series.

Chapter 1 also indicates that the memory is onboard and cannot be upgraded.
Chapter 3 does not show motherboards that come pre-configured with memory.
Chapter 3 also shows 4, 8 and 16 GB memory chip part numbers.
Chapter 5 has a memory module removal and replacement procedure.
The Crucial memory report indicates the PC comes configured with either 8 or 16 GB of non-removable onboard memory.

But I believe the deciding factor is the parts list;
The parts list shows this motherboard part number and description:
M86400-601 | SPS-MB UMA i7-1195G7 8GB WIN |
This concludes that the PC has non-upgradable onboard system memory, or it would not have listed the 8 GB of memory, and a separate 8 GB memory chip part number would have shown up on the parts list if the memory could be removed and replaced.

That's what I was afraid of. But I have to agree with you, it seems more info that I've found is conflicting as well, but it generally seems as if I can't upgrade the RAM. I'll have to look into getting a new laptop, despite this one only being a little older. Thank you so very much for your in-depth answer. I appreciate you taking the time to find all of that information for me.
