I have been using the HP Envy x360 convertible laptop for about 6 months and this is the fist issue I have had with it. Recently after using the laptop in tablet mode, I heard a loud crunch after rotating the screen back to the closed position. Upon opening up the laptop again, it was apparent that the right hinge popped out of place and did not rotate with the screen, which caused the the bottom right portion of the screen to crack due to it not closing properly. I was extremely confused what caused the damage because I was using the device exactly as intended. After a bit of research, it was clear that I am not alone and this seems to be a reoccurring issue with this model. I contacted customer support and was told that the damages were not covered under warranty and I would have to pay $400 (half of the original price) to get it repaired. It is absurd to me that this model is advertised to allow 360 degree rotation, but doing so will break the laptop after 6 months of usage. It is a complete scam to want $400 to repair a known defect of your product. Now the hinge is broken, a portion of the screen is cracked, and the laptop is unable to be folded back into tablet mode. I really need this laptop and do not have the funds to get it repaired, is there any other course of action I can take to get my laptop fixed?
