HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew0000 (549V8AV)

I own an HP ENVY x360, out of warranty, never leaves the desk. I work on it daily, open it in the morning close it at night. This morning I went to open it and the left hinge broke. Opened it without any pressure. After researching the forum I see this is a common issue that hasn't been addressed. We have two HP ENVY x360 and now I fear this will happen to the other computer.

I've seen different fixes within the forum, please advise.

Hi @ERBoymom,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that this is a Hardware issue. Since the unit might need repair, I would request you to contact HP Phone support who can schedule a repair as per the warranty and the issue can be fixed.

For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

Please mark this post as Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

This is just ridiculous! I get  a reply asking to check my private messages and to mark the post as "Accepted Solution", when there's really no reasonable solution. The private message simply comes with instructions to call HP Phone Support and a phone number.

So many HP owners have the exact same issue and HP hasn't issued a recall therefore it has to come out of our pockets to fix it. And conveniently it happens right after the warranty expires. Unacceptable. Very disappointed.
