While trying to close my computer, the right hinge popped out of my screen (almost breaking the screen) and 3 screws come out. It seems like the plastic holding the screws to the screen have given out due to poor design. I see online that this is a very common occurrence with this computer. I want to know what my options are moving forward. I spent a lot of money on this computer and for it to have this design flaw is unacceptable.

Hey,
It seems that this is a common problem right at this moment with this batch of Envy x360, the same has happened to me last week. And I'm still trying to get a useful response on this forum.
Did you get a response at all that is useful? Mine has escalated today and a bit of metal has popped out the bottom of the screen (see picture), now not sure I can close it at all.
Let me know if you've had any input!
Thanks,
Joseph

Hi there,
For anyone facing the same problem on this, here's the solution I had.
I went to Curry's PC World. Paid £50 (service fee), they then sent it off to their repair shop, rang me up and said it was going to cost another £166 on top of that -- £130 for a replacement back for the screen, £36 labour.
At which point I just needed to get it back as I use it for work, so had to just pay. About 10 days after I put it in I got it back repaired.
How long before it breaks again, who knows? It was the plastic in the back of the screen that had failed that attaches to the hinge, not the hinge itself. They said they see a fair amount of cases like this.
Bad design for an expensive product. I had to pay total of £216 to get it fixed, which is just over 25% of what I paid for the laptop originally. Really if the part is so likely to fail the replacement shouldn't be so expensive.
There was no help forthcoming from the HP support staff as I'm out of warranty.
All the best,
Joseph
