I was instructed to post here to get assistance regarding a broken hinge on an HP Envy 360. 

The laptop is owned by an elderly friend on a fixed income. She is still making payments on the laptop and simply cannot afford replacement parts or the cost of service. 

When the hinges failed the left hinge froze tight which cracked open the display where the hinge connects and thus snapping the screen.

She was advised that the hinges are a known defect on the HP Envy x360 and HP will fix or replace the laptop. I am hoping this will be a seamless process.
