HP Envy x360

I just bought this HP Envy x360 a little under three weeks ago. I've already had issues with the internal microphone where it randomly stopped working and kept saying it was unplugged. Fixed that. Now, I've had this new issue twice. The first time this occurred I was in a Microsoft OfficeSuites Windstream video meeting. Second time in a Zoom video meeting. The fan began to randomly start buzzing/hissing and making a lot of noise to the point where I couldn't hear anything. I shut it down and when I restarted it, it was fine. This is extremely frustrating and inconvenient because like many people, I am working remotely and need to do therapy through the use of Zoom and other video chat platforms. Is this a fault of HP Envy or something that I can fix? I've seen other users say their fan gets really loud as well.

I want to return it but I bought it 18 days ago and my receipt says that they only accept returns within a 15 day window. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@sto1231 To resolve issues with a noisy fan, as such issues or more or less related to the fan, to confirm, simply connect a headphone to the device and check if the sound continues to occur from the computer, or if it switches to the headphone instead.

If the issue persists from the device and not the headphone, try the below steps:

  • Updating your Notebook computer BIOS
  • Keeping notebook air vents clear and clean
  • Increasing the efficiency of the notebook to reduce heat
  • Using Windows Task Manager to identify corrupt processes
  • Selecting power save settings to shut off your computer when it is not in use
