I have an HP Envy x360 with a 1Tb HDD w/ 8Gb memory and the HDD shows running at 100%, almost continuously through Task Manager. I'm thinking of upgrading the HDD to an SSD to spped things up, so I opened it up to take a look at things. I saw on the MoBo that there is a slot for an M2SSD. Will this laptop work with one of those. I thinking it will probably need a BIOS update of some sort, but I don't know for sure. Wondering if the M2 will work (which should be faster than an SSD) AND what are some tricks to speed things up (BTW, the HDD is only using about 250Gb from a 1Tb drive)

On the BIOS updates, just install the latest. It will have the previous updates included.

I suggest that you power on your notebook and immediately tap the F1 key to invoke the system information dialogue.
In the list you will see the product name and ProdID or Product number.
No one here can provide you with accurate answers if you do not correctly identify your HP notebook.
We are here to help you, but you have no idea as to how frustrating it is to us to realize that people think we can read their minds and magically know exactly which product they own. We really can't.

Erico, You are right. I didn't think to be very specific, my bad. Attached is a screen shot of the system information you requested. I think my original note said there was 8Gb of Ram, but it's actually 16Gb. Any way thank you for whatever help you're able to provide.

Thanks. That is much better. Good thing I saw it before the Mods yanked the image away because it showed the serial number.
You own an ENVY x360 15m-bp011dx notebook. with product number 1KS72UA.

What a world of information we can find when we have the notebook identified.
To the best of my recollection 16 GB is going to be as good as it gets in terms of RAM upgrade. Unfortunately, your notebook's processor is a 7th Gen unit. If it were an 8th Gen unit, it would be 32 GB.
As far as upgrading to an M.2 SSD, Crucial memory states that it will have support for a PCIe NVMe Gen 4 M.2 SSD with up to 2TB in storage capacity.

You could also replace the legacy hard dish with an upgrade of a 2.5" 3D NAND SATA 2.5" Internal SSD.

Erico, Thank You so much! I will start going thru the links carefully later today. I did briefly look at the drivers section and it shows 2 updates for the BIOS. Do I need to install both or just the latest?
