The internal hard disk needs to be replaced: will a Hitachi Travelstar Z5K500 be compatible?

My doubts are:

- the Z5K500 interface is SATA II

- the dimensions (on Amazon) are 13 x 12 x 8,8 cm, while the old HDD (WD 3200BEVT) seem to be 10 x 7 x 1,2 cm

You can install any 2.5 inch wide SATA hard drive that is either 9.5 or 7 mm thick. They are industry standard interchangeable. 

 

You might consider a somewhat faster 7200 rpm spin speed. Don't worry about SATA II vs. SATA III; they are interchangeable, too. In fact, your laptop SATA bus is SATA-II so whichever you install will run at SATA II speed.
