Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.
Update or Reinstall the HP Hotkey UWP Service
- Update: Check the HP support website for any updates to the HP System Event Utility. Updating might fix bugs that cause high CPU usage.
- Reinstall: If no update is available, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the utility.
- Uninstall: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find HP System Event Utility, and uninstall it.
- Reinstall: Download the latest version from the HP support website and install it.
Disable the HP Hotkey UWP Service
If you don't use the special function keys often, you can disable the service:
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find HP Hotkey UWP Service in the list.
- Right-click on it, select Properties, and change the Startup type to Disabled.
- Click Stop to stop the service immediately, then click OK.
Adjust Power Settings
Sometimes, adjusting your power settings can help reduce CPU usage:
