Hi. I have a HP Envy x360 convertible laptop model #15m-dr0012dx. Presently there is the HP-Intel SSD 512GB PCIe NVMe + 32GB 3D Xpoint drive. Could you recommend some for 1TB(preferably) and maybe a couple 2TB? Can be something quicker or more up to date than the present 512 one. Also what is the 32GB 3D drive about?

Hi:
What you have is an Intel 512 GB NVMe SSD with a 32 GB Intel Optane memory cache.
That is used to accelerate the drive.
How that works, I do not know because the NVMe SSD is fast enough without that.
I don't believe that Intel manufactures that type of drive any longer.
Your notebook's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.
A Gen 4.0 SSD will work but it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from a Gen 3.0 slot.
This table shows the maximum transfer speeds each PCIe slot generation can provide:
PCIe Speeds and Limitations | Crucial.com
If you want a 1 or 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, I recommend the Samsung 990 Pro
If you want a 1 or 2 TB PCIe Gen 3.0 SSD, I recommend the Crucial P3.
Below is the link to the service manual:
Maintenance and Service Guide HP ENVY x360 Convertible PC
I recommend you disable the Intel Optane memory before installing a new SSD using the Intel RST software.
If there is a BIOS setting to disable the Intel Optane memory, disable that too.

Hi. You are a wealth of info. I saw this drive exists.
L71980-001 - 1TB PCIe NVMe+ 32GB 3D Xpoint SSD Hard Drive
Would this be slower than the Crucial p3?
On another note, getting a 4.0 for a 3.0 is a waste of money??
Thanks in advance for your continued help.

You're very welcome.
The best info I can come up with are these specs from Intel on a similar drive:
Intel® Optane™ Memory H10 with Solid State Storage
It does not have remarkable specs compared to the Crucial P3.
But it would be a direct replacement.
It would not be a waste of money if you buy a PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD with the intent of moving it to a newer PC in the future that fully supports PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD's.
If you have no plans on doing that, and if the Gen 4.0 drive you want to buy costs more, it would be a waste of money.

So I purchased this one. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/crucial-p3-1tb-internal-ssd-pcie-gen-3-x4-nvme/6509712.p?skuId=6509712&...
This was the correct one,,,Correct??
