I have a 10-month-old HP keyboard purchased in the UK. I live in Portugal, but I need an English keyboard for work.
This month it stopped working, I keep getting the "USB Device Not Recognized" pop-up, I have tried different ports, laptops and changing the batteries.
I have been trying to contact HP for assistance but the keyboard doesn't have a serial number on the back the website is not accepting the HP PN number, Component PN, SPS, FCC ID, or barcode number.
Any assistance on how to contact support or troubleshoot the problem with the keyboard please let me know.
Thank you,

Hi @FedUpGemma,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the USB keyboard.
If your HP 230 Wireless Keyboard is not working and you keep getting the "USB Device Not Recognized" error despite trying different ports, laptops, and changing the batteries, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:
Troubleshooting Steps
Check the USB Receiver:
- Ensure that the USB receiver is securely connected to the USB port.
- Try using a different USB port on the computer.
- If possible, test the USB receiver on another computer to see if it is recognized.
Pairing the Keyboard:
- Make sure the keyboard is properly paired with the USB receiver. Sometimes, the connection between the keyboard and the receiver can be lost.
Driver Update:
- Update the USB drivers on your computer.
- Go to Device Manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
- Right-click on the USB device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Device:
- Uninstall the USB device from Device Manager and then restart your computer. This can sometimes resolve recognition issues.
- Go to Device Manager.
- Right-click on the USB device that is not recognized and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your computer.
Interference Check:
- Ensure there are no other wireless devices nearby that might be causing interference.
- Keep the keyboard and receiver within a reasonable distance to ensure a strong signal.
Replace USB Receiver:
- If possible, try using a different USB receiver that is compatible with your keyboard. Sometimes the receiver can be faulty.
Kindly check the next steps in the next post.

Hi @FedUpGemma,
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider the following options:
Since your keyboard is only 10 months old, it might still be under warranty. Contact HP support for assistance or a possible replacement.
If the warranty has expired or if you prefer not to send the keyboard back, consider taking it to a local computer repair shop.
