My laptop touchpad is not working , in device manager i have under HID devices 12c hid device cannot start invalid descriptor , I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and manually inputting a touchpad driver , i have updated the firmware and all other drivers , everything works normal except the touchpad , i currently  have an external wireless mouse attached and it works. I have researched this issue and tried all the fixes i found none have helped , i have even replaced the top cover that includes the keyboard and touchpad thinking the touchpad had failed but i have the same issue with a new touchpad any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your HP notebook touchpad is not working correctly even after replacing the hardware. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. 

The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue. 

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
