HP Notebook - 17-by1061st
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have had a 17.3" HP LAPTOP (17-BY1061ST) for 3.5 years now. Unfortunately, it has the same poorly designed HP laptop hinge issue that is well known (Google "HP laptop hinge problem" for tons of links from consumers posting about this) for many years now. The hinge and case first broke after 3 months of moderate use in June 2020. I chatted online with an HP Support agent and was able to ship my laptop out to be repaired. The broken case and hinges were fixed and the laptop was shipped back to me. A few weeks ago, upon opening up the laptop, the case and hinge cracked and a few little black plastic pieces fell out. I am out of warranty but this laptop, as it is designed, is defective. I tried to re-contact HP support online to inquire about repairing this laptop but because it is out of warranty, it only allows me to post a message on this board. This is absolutely ridiculous that just opening this HP laptop can cause it to crack / break because the case and hinges are so horribly designed. It is also terrible to not allow customers to contact support via chat at least. Please contact me so that this laptop can be repaired.

Thank you.

Hi Erico, thank you for contacting the Moderator about my laptop issue. What is the status? I have not heard from the moderator. My laptop hinge / case is continuing to fall apart. Whenever I needed to close the laptop recently, I had been using one hand to squeeze the case to keep it together while closing the top lid with my other hand. Now that doesn't work. The hinge and case are really splitting apart. I really need assistance on this. Thank you.

I can ping a Moderator again.

Done!

Unfortunately today is Sunday, so an answer or reply today is unlikely.
