Hi @Gregory0557,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop won’t charge or power on even after replacing the power jack, and you’re seeing the power LED blink 3 times when you press the power button. Let’s go through a few steps to narrow down what’s causing this issue.

1. Verify Power Source

Plug another device (like a phone charger or lamp) into the same wall outlet to confirm it’s working.

If you’re using a surge protector or power strip, plug the laptop’s adapter directly into the wall outlet.

2. Check Power Adapter and Cable

Ensure the adapter’s LED (if present) is on.

Inspect the entire length of the cable for cuts, kinks, or exposed wires.

If you have access to another compatible HP adapter, try using it to rule out a faulty charger.

3. Confirm Battery & Adapter Connection

Since you’ve removed the battery, try powering on the laptop with just the AC adapter connected.

Ensure the new power jack is seated firmly and that there are no bent pins or loose connections.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery.

Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.

Reconnect the AC adapter (leave the battery out) and try to power on.

5. Understand the LED Blink Code

On most HP laptops, 3 blinking white or amber lights near the power LED often indicate a memory (RAM) issue.

It can also suggest a motherboard error depending on the model, so it’s important to test the RAM next.

I hope this helps.
