Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, and TIA. My client has the machine. (HP Laptop - 14-dk1013od): 64GB eMMC and 4GB RAM.

I have the service manual via the HP website. It says RAM is non-upgradeable.

What about using the eMMC with a concurrent SSD installation?

>Can I install a 500GB PCIe SSD and use it as a data drive, and can i then use the eMMC as the boot drive? Or would I need to either clone the system or buy a fresh copy of Windows 11 for the new drive, and be forced to remove the eMMC?

Crucial says I can add the SSD, but I am doing my due diligence before buying anything.

Thank you.

Hi:

I have serious doubts that the M.2 slot in that model supports NVMe SSDs when it has a 64 GB eMMC drive.

There is a similar model series (14-fq0xxx) where the M.2 slot only supports M.2 SATA SSDs and not NVMe even though the service manual indicates that both types of drives are supported when the notebook comes with a 64 GB eMMC flash drive.

There are several discussions about this.

Perhaps if you have a M.2 NVMe SSD you can test and loosely reassemble the notebook you can confirm my suspicion.

If it doesn't work as I suspect it won't, then you will have to install a M.2 SATA SSD such as the Western Digital Blue SA510

Either way, you can only use the M.2 drive for storage.

The PC will not boot from it.

The memory is upgradable.

It has one slot and can support 1 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 memory.
