Microsoft Windows 11

Bought a low end HP Laptop and can't figure out the RAM upgrade.  The bottom only has two small screws and it does not seem like an easy fix.  Only have 4GB installed and with Windows 11 I am experiencing SERIOUS lag issues.

Thanks!

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1 on page 2.

Depending on what model processor your notebook came with, it either has one or two memory slots.

Two slots in the models with the Intel core processors.

One slot in the models with the Intel Pentium/Celeron processors.

Chapter 5 has the memory removal and replacement procedure.

This service teardown video may help as well.

It is for the 15-dy0xxx model series which uses the same service manual as the 15-dw0xxx model series.

Ugh... If it only has one slot, is 8GB the most you can put in there?  The computer literally cannot handle basic operations with the 4GB on board.  Leaves around 1GB of physical memory available.

Why make this computer?

I don't work for or represent HP, so I would not be able to answer your last question.

If the notebook has a 2.5" mechanical hard drive, replace it with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

It only has 1 RAM slot.  I threw a 16GB in there and am giving that a test run.

So far it looks like it will take the  1x16GB.  Can't tell on performance yet, but at least the install was a success.
