Hey all,
This may be a 2 parter. I recently started a new job and they sent me an HP Laptop (15-dw3xxx) and a single monitor. I was able to keep an old ThinkPad Gen 2 USB-C dock from my old position and was hoping to use it to set up a dual monitor situation. I have one HDMI monitor they sent me and a leftover monitor that uses a standard Display Port (from a DVI-D input) that can be plugged into the ThinkPad dock. My issue is that any display I attach to the ThinkPad will not show connect to the laptop itself. I've also used the USB-C adapter they sent me to see if it's a USB-C connection issue or something more and the only way I can get a monitor plugged in is to directly plug the HDMI into the laptop. When I plug the dock into Ethernet it will likewise fail to connect the laptop.
Is there some software, firmware, or other ware thing I'm missing or is the system just not compatible.
If it won't work, what would you recommend? I have the one HDMI monitor, one Display Port Monitor, a speaker connection, an ethernet connection, USB camera, USB microphone, and the USB for my wireless mouse/keyboard. I'm also looking at a USB headset that may be able to replace the microphone.
So, 1 HDMI port, 1 Display Port, Speaker connection, 4 USB inputs, a Cat 5 connection dock that can connect to my laptop via a USB-C connection.

Not all USB-C ports are the same. I need to know what EXACTLY is your machine to be able to answer your question
